Where is Kedarnath?
Kedarnath is a town and Nagar Panchayat in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand, India. It is famous for the Kedarnath Temple, which is dedicated to Mahadev. This temple is also the first of the Panch Kedar pilgrimage sites and is the highest among the 12 Jyotirlingas. It is also one of the 4 major sites in India’s Chota Char Dham pilgrimage. The Kedarnath Temple is in the Garhwal Himalayas (Uttarakhand).
Mythology
According to legend, the original Pandavas built the temple and Adi Shankaracharya restored it in the 8th century A.D.. The temple is said to be more than 1,200 years old.
